OVERVIEW
The "Mazu" navigation app, often seen in the context of boaters and sailors, is a marine-focused application that serves as the user interface for the mSeries satellite system by SkyMate. This system provides global satellite connectivity for messaging, email, weather updates (including NOAA alerts and NEXRAD), navigation with NOAA and Navionics charts, and 24/7 SOS emergency response. The Mazu app allows users to wirelessly connect to the onboard mSeries system via an iPad or other web-enabled device, offering an affordable and easy way to stay connected and informed at sea.
ROLE
Under my direction, team won the Pittman Innovation Award at the Newport Boat Show for best new concept.
PROJECT BRIEF
• Guide the creation of user experiences and create wireframes and flows for a new concept for a navigation app called Mazu.
• Design the UI for existing hardware for whitelabel development for SiriusXm.
METHODS
• Create mock-ups of art style and hire a contract UI artist.
• Create wireframes and flows for all features.
• Conduct brainstorm and card sort exercises for feature development.
