OVERVIEW

Home Boov Pop! is a match-three puzzle game based on the film of the same name, ‘Home’. The objective of the game is to work through levels by matching three or more bubbles of the same colour in order to pop them and make them disappear. Skills needed to play are mostly based around problem solving and motor skills.

ROLE

Contracted to provide a heuristic analysis of the game, the team wanted to establish why users were dropping out after level 3.

After evaluating the game, it was established that players were dropping out because there was a change in the type of swipe motion required; they were performing horizontal and vertical swipes when a cricular motion was required. This was remedied by adding the circular swipe pattern into the onboarding flow at the beginning of level 3. Adding this new piece of onboarding improved player retention by 80%.
